(VEN) - The Italian Trade Agency (ITA), the National Association of Manufacturers of Footwear, Leather Goods and Tanning Technologies (ASSOMAC) and the Vietnam Leather, Footwear and Handbag Association (LEFASO) inaugurated the Italy-Vietnam Footwear Technology Center on July 12, at the LEFASO Centre, in Binh Duong province.
The center is equipped with modern machinery and equipment - the latest technology imported directly from Italy and other European countries that brings small and medium enterprises active in the leather-footwear industry the opportunity to approach, research and develop new products.
The project aims to improve the capacity and contribute to the development of Vietnam’s industry. The idea of establishing the Italy-Vietnam Footwear Technology Center took shape two years ago during a bilateral meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee between Italy and Vietnam in Hanoi. The Italy-Vietnam Footwear Technology Center was eventually set up thanks to the partnership between ASSOMAC and LEFASO, Ho Chi Minh City Industry and Trade Collage (HITC), ITA and PISIE - a non-governmental organization in Italy in charge of technology and training activities in textile, leather-footwear and related products.
The leather-footwear industry has always been an area of interest for Italian investors in the Vietnamese market. With the experience of a nation that has made great strides in this industry, Italy will assist Vietnamese companies in bettering their product quality through collaboration and the launch of the Italy-Vietnam Footwear Technology Center for technology transfer, consultancy and training of trainers for the Vietnamese footwear industry.
Specifically, when it starts operation, the center will join hands with HITC to organize training programs, popularizing the world’s leading design and manufacturing trends to the staff in charge of production, design and product development at Vietnamese footwear enterprises.
