The Deputy Minister Hoang Quoc Vuong receives the UK Foreign Secretary’s Special Envoy for Climate Change

On April 24th, 2015, at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Deputy Minister, H.E. Hoang Quoc Vuong had a courtesy meeting with Sir David King, Special Envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom, Mr. Giles Lever, Ambassador of the United Kingdom in Viet Nam and the delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Hoang Quoc Vuong highly appreciated the trade relations between the two countries in recent years, especially in 2014 and believed that with the efforts of the two governments, the cooperation relationship in economic and trade areas of the two countries would become more developed.

Sir David King proposed that in the coming time, the two governments should focus on promoting cooperation in fields of climate change, renewable energy, and nuclear energy. Regarding to the sector of climate change, Sir David King shared experience in responding to climate change of UK through policies which the UK has taken to reduce carbon emissions.

Deputy Minister Hoang Quoc Vuong agreed with the proposals of Sir David King and emphasized on serious concern about climate change issues. Viet Nam has committed to actively participating in activities dealing with the global climate change. Deputy Minister Hoang Quoc Vuong hoped that with the supports of the UK, particularly for the improvement and upgrade of the 2050 Calculator, Viet Nam could soon calculate and announce a peaking year reaching the largest total greenhouse gas emissions.
