(VEN) - The 3rd Joint Committee Meeting on Economic, Culture, Scientific and Technology cooperation between Vietnam and Venezuela was held recently in Hanoi. Throughout discussing sections, both sides have reviewed the implementation of the joined projects stated in the previous Minute of Meeting and proposed the methods, directions to further promote the cooperation on various fields of economy and trade towards mutual benefits.
The delegation of Vietnam, led by Minister of Industry and Trade of Vietnam Vu Huy Hoang, consisted of Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Vu Van Tam and representatives of the Government Office, ministries and enterprises.
The delegation of Venezuela, led by Elias Jaua, Vice President for the Development of Territorial Socialism/Minister of People’s Power for Communes and Social Movements of Venezuela, included representatives of ministries and enterprises of Venezuela.
Within the framework of the 3rd Joint Meeting Committee, four sub-committees for agriculture, culture, energy and trade spent time to examine, review the implementation of the projects in agriculture, culture, education, lighting, energy saving bulb production and petroleum. Both sides agreed on methods to restart a number of joined projects carried out in two countries and to reassure the interests of Venezuela leaders in strengthening and deepening the cooperation with Vietnam in every perspective.
Throughout the meeting, both sides also agreed that the orientation for cooperation in the future will be based on ensuring the harmonization of interests and needs of the parties. Venezuela committed to create more favorable conditions and better financing to further support the growth of joint projects in petroleum and agriculture in the two countries, as well as to promote the cooperation in petroleum which will help Vietnam in ensuring energy security and to promote agriculture which will help Venezuela in ensuring food security, and stable society.
Moreover, both sides agreed that beside the above-mentioned prioritized sectors, the two countries should also promote cooperation in other sectors such as trade and investment, electric power, production industry, construction and etc. In this connection, both sides signed a trade agreement between Vietnam and Venezuela on trade cooperation.
On the sidelines of the 3rd meeting, the Venezuela delegation met Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai and worked with relevant ministries of Vietnam such as the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade. They also visited a paddy model in Hanoi’s Dan Phuong District and the Agricultural Genetics Institute.
Economic, trade, cultural, scientific and technical cooperation between Vietnam and Venezuela offers many opportunities for development. However, both sides will need to keep concentrating on building an effective cooperation plan for the development of two countries. nSource: ICD and MOIT
