The 2017 national start-up festival, Techfest, will be held on November 14 and 15 in Hanoi, with the target of boosting the vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem in Vietnam.

Speaking at a press conference in Hanoi on September 31, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Van Tung said that the 2017 Techfest will be divided into seven technology oriented sections, including community; agriculture; education; medical; tourism, food and beverage; emerging tech; and frontier and fin technology.

There will also be workshops and seminars discussing the policies required to promote Vietnam’s start-up ecosystem, activities to connect investors with start-ups, a contest to seek initiatives on techno-entrepreneurship, and a ceremony honouring the outstanding innovative start-up companies of the year.

An exhibition will also be held to showcase new products made by successful start-ups.

During its third edition, the festival is expected to attract the participation of 4,000 visitors, 200 start-up businesses, 130 international investors and investment funds, 80 corporations businesses and start-up support organisations.

Endorsed by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the event has been established as the largest national annual event to bring investors and start-ups together, while updating them with the latest knowledge and information on science and technologies, as well as the legal procedures for those operating within the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

In its first edition, the festival attracted 1,000 participants, and the number reached 3,000 in last years’ event.
