(VEN) - First launched in 2011, TechDemo is a Ministry of Science and Technology’s annual event to connect technological supply and demand for both domestic and international organizations.

TechDemo 2016

TechDemo 2016 recently took place in the city of Thai Nguyen under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Northwest Steering Committee and the Thai Nguyen Province People’s Committee.

TechDemo 2016 showcased more than 400 technologies, equipment and other scientific products suitable for being transferred in the northern country. They included 70 technologies, equipment and research results in food and drink production; 63 in agriculture, 40 in the fields of environment and energy, and more.

A database on nearly 1,000 sources of technological supply, more than 200 professionals and 10,000 businesses ready to connect online to directly provide information for enterprises, training facilities, institutes, and science and technology organizations was introduced for the time at TechDemo 2016. Within the framework of the event, there were international forums on promoting cooperation in investment and technology transfer between Vietnamese enterprises and foreign businesses in agriculture, green technology and clean technology. The forums attracted participants of 18 foreign organizations from Japan, the Republic of Korea (RoK), Singapore and Chinese Taipei.

The Ministry of Science and Technology expected that TechDemo 2016 would bring many opportunities for cooperation and promoting technology research, transfer and innovation for organizations, individuals and businesses from Thai Nguyen in particular and the northern mountainous region in general. The ministry also expected that through TechDemo, key products with high quality and yield will be created for export and the domestic market.

Vietnam Institute of Agricultural Engineering & Post-Harvest Technology (VIAEP) Director, Dr. Pham Anh Tuan said that like many other research institutes, VIAEP encountered many difficulties in getting its research results to reach the market before attending TechDemo.

Previously, businesses usually searched information about a scientific or technological product that they wanted themselves, then contacted and ordered VIAEP for related technology transfer. Such a product was usually something that has efficiency proved for many years. TechDemo is something through which businesses can find information and answers related to new technologies and access detailed advisory assistance before deciding to order a new technology transfer.

During TechDemo 2016, supply - demand connection parties signed nine technology transfer contracts, memoranda of

understanding and agreements worth a total of more than VND56 billion.
