He made the request at a nationwide teleconference reviewing the implementation of a Government resolution on Party Resolution 15-NQ/TW, which focuses on social welfare and other similar policies for between 2012 and 2020.
A report at the function said that the Government, ministries, sectors and localities had worked out concrete plans of action and taken steps to implement the resolution. More than 1.3 million national devotees have access to monthly benefits, an increase of 94,000 from 2012. About 38,060 families of revolutionary contributors have also received free houses or financial support for homebuilding.
Since 2012, about 1.6 million people have found jobs every year, while the unemployment rate has dropped from 2.18 per cent in 2012 to 2.08 per cent in 2014.
The figure in poverty-stricken districts – those with more than 50 per cent of households considered impoverished – declined to 32.59 per cent at the end of 2014 from 50.97 per cent in 2011.
The rate of deprived households is expected to drop below 5 per cent nationwide and 27 per cent in poor districts later this year, meeting targets set by the National Assembly.
The report also said that despite those possible achievements, the resolutions still faced challenges, including lax connectivity among social welfare policies, varying viewpoints among officials and citizens, the inefficient dissemination of laws and policies, and inadequate attention to work.
Concluding the conference, the PM hailed efforts to enact social policies, noting that many objectives had been reached and others could be achieved by 2020.
He told ministries, sectors and localities to work harder to win the society's support and attract foreign and domestic resources./.
