The ASOCIO Smart City Summit 2018 officially opened in Hanoi on September 18.

Themed “Creating Smarter and Securer Cities by Digital Solutions”, the event was co-organized by the Hanoi People’s Committee, the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organisation (ASOCIO) and the Vietnam Software and IT Services (Vinasa).
The event aims to share visions, strategies and experiences of smart urban building and collect opinions from managers and IT experts on smart urban management, planning and development based on new and emerging technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and Augmented Reality (AR).
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee said that on August 1, 2018, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc approved a project to develop sustainable and smart cities. Up to 2020, the project will work to establish a legal basis for sustainable and smart city development, issue policies and mechanisms applied to the regions subject to pilot implementation, build and pilot the application of the ICT framework on smart city development, develop the GIS-based urban space data infrastructure, and build a national city database.
Hanoi is looking forward to a model of a smart city based on convenience, safety and friendliness for all people based on the application of the key technologies of the Fourth Revolution, he added.
The summit will also feature seminars on digital government and strategies to build smart cities, and smarter cities with fewer cash transactions, along with sections on infrastructure, platform – principles for smart city, data driven city – data analysis and urban planning and smart industries.
