The sixth session of the 14th National Assembly Standing Committee (NASC) began in Hanoi on January 9 under the chairmanship of NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.
At the opening ceremony, Chairwoman Ngan briefed NA deputies on the three major topics of the three-day session—the NASC’s first working session in 2017.
Accordingly, the committee will consider and approve two resolutions: the first one on the promulgation of regulations stipulating the implementation sequence and procedures for a number of issues relating to the supervision activities of the NA, the NASC and the NA deputy delegation; and the second on the promulgation of the statute on coordination between the chief justice of the Supreme People’s Court and the Defence Minister in the management of military courts.
The NASC’s members are also scheduled to give opinions on eight draft laws, including the revised law on the State’s compensation responsibility, the revised law on legal assistance, the law on foreign trade management, the law on support for small and medium-sized enterprises, the revised law on the management and use of State assets and the law on planning, among others.
They will also consider and comment on a list of projects in the mid-term public investment plan for 2016-2020 and the allocation of capital investment for each project on the list and an NASC draft resolution on the punishment of retired State officials and employees.
After the opening session, NA Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu presided over the morning session, in which the NA deputies discussed the revised law on the State’s compensation responsibility, and major topics relating to the revised law on legal assistance.
