A seminar titled “Convergence of ASEAN Diversity through Film Culture” was held by Blue Productions and the ASEAN International Film Festival and Awards (AIFFA) at Hoa Sen University in HCMC on February 19, the Vietnam News Agency reports.

The event was hosted by award-winning actress and director Hong Anh and featured AIFFA director Livan Tajang, producer Tran Thi Bich Ngoc and director Trinh Le Minh.
Livan Tajang gave a speech on overcoming barriers such as language and cultural differences for a more diverse and exciting Southeast Asian film industry. She also talked about the role of AIFFA in promoting the development of Asian cinema.
Host Hong Anh shared her experience on how to introduce Vietnamese films at international film festivals. She has won many prizes both at home and abroad, including the Special Jury Prize at the Eurasia International Film Festival 2017 in Kazakhstan and Best Film, Best Actor and Best Director of Photography awards at AIFFA 2017 in Malaysia for her latest film “The Way Station”.
Participants at the seminar also discussed how to make Vietnamese movies more popular in foreign countries, especially in Southeast Asia, and encourage the cooperation between producers and directors of countries in the region.
The seminar was a side event of the fourth ASEAN International Film Festival and Awards, which will take place from April 25 to 27 in Kuching City, Malaysia.
