Yasuo Nishitohge, general director of Aeon Viet Nam, said the Aeon Mall Binh Tan, which costs approximately US$120 million, is being developed on 4.6ha of land, making it much larger than the Aeon Mall Tan Phu Celadon, which attracts some 1 million visitors per month, Saigon Times reported.
Aeon has two other malls as well: one in neighboring Binh Duong Province and the other in Ha Noi. Investment capital for the four malls totals around $500 million. The company strives to open 20 malls across the country by 2020.
Aeon has a system of 250 subsidiaries, with total annual sales of 6 trillion yen (around $60.5 billion), earning a total profit of some 200 billion yen (some $2 billion).
Aeon is currently operating in 14 countries and territories, including Viet Nam. Viet Nam is the third country after Malaysia and China that Aeon has entered with large shopping malls./.
