Quang Tri's industry promotion programs have provided a motive force for the development of the local rural industry
According to the Agency for Industrial Promotion under the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT), Quang Tri topped the table in terms of industry promotion activities compared with other provinces and cities last year. Data from the provincial Department of Industry and Trade showed that in 2012, with a total capital of VND2.03 billion, including VND463 million from the national industry promotion funding and VND1.57 billion from the local industry promotion funding, the provincial Industrial Promotion and Trade Promotion Center carried out many practical activities.
Quang Tri's industry promotion programs focused on providing training for industrial sewing and incense-making, brooms and conical straw hats to 1,500 laborers in Dong Ha City, Quang Tri Town and Cai Lang District. Most of the trainees found jobs with stable incomes after completing the courses. The Center also organized survey trips to learn experience in developing industry and small industry and handicrafts in some craft villages in northern regions.
In addition, the center spent quite a large amount of capital to support 15 enterprises and rural production units to apply modern equipment in production, helping them to improve production capacity and efficiency and protect the environment. For example, the center supported My Chanh candied ginger craft village and My Thuy fish sauce craft village in designing and printing their labels and packaging and Vuong Thai Co .Ltd in implementing a modern coffee production line. It also assisted Phu Quy Co .Ltd in making clean rice vermicelli and Truong Anh Co .Ltd in producing organic compound fertilizer.
With the national industry promotion funding, the provincial Industrial Promotion and Trade Promotion Center also coordinated with the Ngoc Tuan Company in Vinh Linh District to build technical performance models to increase capacity to 4,578 tonnes of fish paste and dried fish per year. At present, this model was put into stable operation and helped increase the enterprise's productivity.
The center also assisted provincial enterprises and rural production units in participating at trade fairs and exhibitions, selecting typical rural industrial products and organizing the Central Highlands Trade Fair and Trans-Asia Bridge Festival 2012, helping to promote the provincial rural industrial products.
At the conference preparing for the implementation of industrial promotion and trade promotion activities in 2013 held in February, the leader of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade affirmed that with the results obtained so far, industrial promotion and trade promotion activities have provided a motive force for the development of the local rural industry, contributing to the provincial growth rate in industrial production value of 12.46 percent last year.
To further promote the efficiency of industrial promotion and trade promotion activities, the leader of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade added in 2013, funding for these activities was expected to increase about 12 percent year on year to reach VND2.45 billion. Apart from implementing support programs according to Decree 45/2012/ND-CP, Quang Tri's industrial promotion will focus on helping enterprises and production units build performance models, and provide training to about 500 rural workers.
In addition, the center will continue to implement the provincial trade promotion program during the 2013-2015 period and persify trade promotion activities for local rural industrial products./.
