Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh has asked Quang Ngai province to continue encouraging fishermen to go to sea and boost sea economy development associated with safeguarding the sovereignty of national sea and islands.

The deputy PM made the statement at a July 9 working session with the provincial leaders on the situation of socio-economic, security and national defence performance in the first half of 2016 as well as orientations for the latter half.
Quang Nai needs to accelerate industrial, trade and service development in association with protecting the environment, particularly the marine environment, Binh said, asking the province to take optimal advantage of the central and provincial resources to invest in Ly Son island distrct.
He also urged the provincial leaders to pay attention to building infrastructure and implementing social welfare and security policies for mountainous areas.
At the meeting, Secretary of the Quang Ngai Party Committee Le Van Chu briefed the deputy PM on the province’s socio-economic performance in the first six months of the year.
Specifically, the local gross domestic product (GDP) was estimated at VND21.71 trillion (US$976.95 million), up 4.4% compared to the same period last year and equivalent to 49.4% of the year’s forecast. The petrochemical refining outputs reached 3.434 million tonnes, meeting 52% of the year’s plan.
After the working session, Deputy PM Truong Hoa Binh visited and presented gifts to disadvantaged households and pupils in Ba To district. Later the same day, the government official attended the inaugural ceremony for a VND7 billion primary school in Binh Chau commune, Binh Son district./.
