Liem’s first challenger will be Vasif Durarbayli of Azerbaijan, while Son will take on Robert Kempinski of Poland in the first round.
Total prize money of US$1.6 million will be up for grabs, with the first round’s losers to receive US$6,000 and the overall champion earning up to US$120,000.
Earlier last month, Liem and Son took part in the 2015 Asian Continental Chess Championship in the United Arab Emirates, at which Son claimed the rapid chess title with six points while Liem ended up in fifth position in the same category with 5.5 points./.
