(VEN) - On May 28-29, the Trade Union of the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PVN) sent a delegation to Thanh Hoa Province to visit and encourage workers at the Nghi Son refinery and petrochemical complex and the Thanh Hoa PTSC Port.

The delegation consisted of PVN Trade Union Chairwoman Nghiem Thuy Lan, members of the PVN Trade Union standing committee, and representatives from the office and departments of the PVN Trade Union.
At her meetings with representatives from the trade unions of the Nghi Son refinery and petrochemical complex and the Thanh Hoa PTSC Port, Chairwoman Nghiem Thuy Lan provided guidance and encouraged them to maintain solidarity and make joint efforts to fulfill their tasks and contribute to the realization of the entire group’s targets.
Chairwoman Nghiem Thuy Lan requested the two trade unions to launch role-model movements to encourage workers to bring their creativity into full play. She also requested them to organize cultural and sports activities to improve workers’ spiritual lives, along with paying special attention to improving their material lives.
On May 29, the delegation worked with the Thanh Hoa Province Confederation of Labor to negotiate turning the trade union of the Nghi Son refinery and petrochemical complex into a member of the PVN Trade Union in accordance with the complex’s aspiration.

Chairwoman Nghiem Thuy Lan highly appreciated the solidarity and effective cooperation between the PVN Trade Union and the Thanh Hoa Province Confederation of Labor since the two sides signed a coordination regulation. She pledged to provide further guidance for the trade unions of the Nghi Son refinery and petrochemical complex and the Thanh Hoa PTSC Port to strengthen.
On May 29, the PVN Trade Union Standing Committee organized its 20th conference to discuss important issues, including
the trade union’s operations in April and May 2017, and major tasks in the third quarter, such as preparing a personnel plan
and a draft report to be presented at the sixth congress of the trade union for the 2017-2023 tenure.
At the conference, PVN Trade Union Chairwoman Nghiem Thuy Lan praised standing committee members for their high
spirits at work and emphasized the trade union’s determination to maintain its operations despite any difficulties. She highly
appreciated the trade union’s care for workers’ lives, which she believed would have good effects on all people working in the
oil and gas sector.
