PV GAS: Joining hands for a community without plastic wastes

(VEN) - In a series of campaigns to make the world cleaner in 2019, with the approval of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and the Da Nang People’s Committee, the launching ceremony of “Clean the Sea” campaign and the conference “Joining hands for a community without plastic waste: Responsibilities of managers - enterprises – the media” were held in Da Nang with the companion of the PetroVietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PV GAS).

Launching ceremony of the “Clean the Sea” campaign

The two events aimed to share managers’ perspectives on the reduction of plastic wastes, develope action plans at localities and propose green ideas and initiatives for recycling and using environmentally friendly materials; actively join hands in dissemination information on the fight against plastic wastes.

Attending the seminar were Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Vo Tuan Nhan; and leaders from the Vietnam Administration of Seas and Islands; Vietnam Environment Administration; representatives of coastal provinces Da Nang, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa; businesses and experts on the environment.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment selects the theme of this year campaign “Local action, global impact”, with the main focus on reducing and combating plastic wastes. This is a practical and urgent content at this time as many countries worldwide are trying to eliminate pollution caused by plastic wastes. It also called on the entire political system, organizations and businesses and the people to join hands, and be determined to unanimously implement the directions of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

At the seminar, the delegates actively discussed about plastic waste pollution, including the situation in Vietnam and suggested solutions to deal with the problem. They also presented action plans and movements against plastic wastes at their localities and workplaces; shared managers’ perspectives on the reduction of plastic waste, proposed green ideas and initiatives for recycling and using environmentally friendly materials; actively joining hands in dissemination information on the fight against plastic wastes.

Delegates collect garbages and clean the environment in Da Nang

PV GAS is known as a key unit of the Vietnam Gas Industry; and the leading dry gas and LPG supplier in Vietnam, contributing to national energy and food security. It was also voted as the leading enterprise among the largest enterprises in the Vietnamese stock market, the most dynamic enterprise in Asia and the biggest taxpayer concerning corporate income tax in Vietnam.

For PV GAS, all production and business activities are secured for safety - quality - environmental protection. The gas works built are well prepared for emergency situations, for a green - clean - beautiful environment, including chemical incidents. PV GAS is applying ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards, which have been evaluated and certified by the BSI international certification organizations. In addition to production duties, PV GAS actively participated in various programs relating to social security, environmental protection and territorial sovereignty protection.

Accompanying the launching ceremony of “Clean the Sea” campaign and the conference “Joining hands for a community without plastic waste: Responsibilities of managers - enterprises – the media” once again affirmed the position and social responsibility of PV GAS.
