(VEN) - The PetroVietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PV Gas) recently held a ceremony to carry out the trade and production plan for 2020 at its headquarters in Ho Chi Minh City.

The ceremony drew the participation of leaders of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN) and PV Gas, such as Tran Sy Thanh, member of the Party Central Committee, deputy head of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission, secretary of the Party Committee and board chairman of PVN; Nguyen Quoc Thap and Do Chi Thanh, deputy general directors of PVN; Nguyen Sinh Khang, member of the Party Committee of PVN, secretary of the Party Committee and board chairman of PV Gas; Duong Manh Son, deputy secretary of the Party Committee, member of the board and general director of PV Gas; Nguyen Van Hung, chairman of PV Gas Trade Union; as well as representatives of authorities and departments and staff.

In 2019, PV Gas overcame challenges and difficulties to record significant achievements, exceeding trade and production targets. In 2020, the corporation set higher goals to bring its position and image to new heights.

Duong Manh Son pointed out the specific tasks of PV Gas in 2020, including continuing to operate safely and effectively gas works and ensuring security and safety for all activities; exceeding all the set targets; ensuring the progress of key projects, such as the Thi Vai LNG Storage project with capacity of one million tonnes per year, phase II of the adjusted Nam Con Son 2 project, Sao Vang-Dai Nguyet Gas Pipeline project, and the modified Dinh Co Gas Processing Plant (GPP) project; completing research and implementing solutions to supply additional gas for output shortages in Thai Binh Province and the southeastern region; seeking opportunities, investing in infrastructure, expanding markets and increasing market share of LPG in the northern and central regions and maintaining the wholesale market share at over 50 percent nationwide.

Other tasks consist of working with the authorities to approve the gas industry model, the corporation’s development strategy by 2025 with a vision to 2035, and gas pricing mechanism as soon as possible, and working with consumers to completely handle issues related to gas consumption contracts; strengthening administration, enhancing effectiveness of all activities, flexibly using of capital sources, increasing savings and reducing costs, promoting initiatives and controlling debts; and ensuring effectiveness of newly established units as well as business activities that performed the restructuring in 2019 and continuing to effectively implement the restructuring in accordance with the corporation’s approved plan and development strategy.

At the ceremony, Tran Sy Thanh thanked the generations of leaders and employees sincerely for their contributions, helping PVN maintain its leading position among state-owned corporations and reach new heights.
