(VEN) - At 9.00am on June 27, 2019, PV Gas Ca Mau - a member unit of the PetroVietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PV Gas), reached PM3 gas production of 20 billion standard cubic meters (scm), bringing total revenues of VND42 trillion. The unit has contributed more than VND9.6 trillion to the budget of Ca Mau Province since the operation of PM3 Ca Mau gas pipeline system in 2007. This is a very significant event, marking a proud milestone in the 13-year journey of establishment and development of PV Gas Ca Mau.

Way to success

PV Gas Ca Mau was established on July 3, 2006, becoming the youngest member of PV Gas. In the early days of establishment, the unit faced many difficulties and challenges, such as lack of infrastructure and limited human resources. With continuous efforts, the unit has overcome difficulties and challenges, and increasingly developed.

The date of April 29, 2007 marked the completion of the 325km PM3 Ca Mau gas pipeline system, carrying gas from the PM3-CAA gas well (in the overlapping area between Vietnam and Malaysia in the Gulf of Thailand) and Block 46-Cai Nuoc (off the coast of Vietnam) to supply to the Ca Mau 1 Power Plant. The system was the first piece for the overall picture of the Ca Mau Gas-Power-Fertilizer Complex, which has made significant contributions to the development of Ca Mau Province in particular and the Mekong Delta in general.

In the following years, the Ca Mau Gas-Power-Fertilizer Complex was gradually improved with the Ca Mau 2 Power Plant and the Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant taking turns to receive gas on May 28, 2008 and September 15, 2011. PV Gas Ca Mau also received and put into operation the Ca Mau Gas Processing Plant (GPP Ca Mau) on December 6, 2017.

GPP Ca Mau is designed to implement the deep processing policy in order to increase the gas value, utilize and effectively use natural resources, and ensure national energy security. The plant covers an area of 34.6ha in Khanh An Commune in Ca Mau Province’s U Minh District, with the value of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract of more than VND5.5 trillion. The plant uses the SCORE technology - one of the world’s leading solutions to make a deep chill in recovering natural gas products, with the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) recovery efficiency of up to 97 percent, while other factories in the country has only achieved the rate of about 85 percent.

In December 2017, PV Gas Ca Mau completely mastered the technology, putting the plant into commercial operation. The plant has contributed to addressing the shortage of LPG in Vietnam and reducing annual imports of LPG.

GPP Ca Mau produced 156,000 tonnes of LPG and 10,000 tonnes of condensate in 2018, and 80,000 tonnes of LPG and 6,000 tonnes of condensate in the first half of this year. The plant has proved the correctness of the leaders in their investment decision as it has not only contributed to the local budget but also created jobs for local workers.

Bright spot of corporate culture

In addition to completing trade and production activities, PV Gas Ca Mau has actively participated in local social security programs. The unit has spent more than VND12 billion on 80 social security activities, focusing on funding education and training, healthcare programs and building houses. The unit has also implemented a scholarship program for local students with difficult circumstances.

After 13 years of establishment and development, PV Gas Ca Mau has not only affirmed its position in the market, but also built four core values: Professional-Responsibility-Creativity-Connection.

With continuous efforts, PV Gas Ca Mau deserves the leading position and pioneer in the gas industry in the Mekong Delta.
