(VEN) - The national industry promotion program is expected to be allocated with VND110 billion in 2017. It targets large projects - regional or trans-regional projects - to create breakthroughs in rural industrial development.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Agency for Industrial Promotion, after years of development, state management of industry promotion continues to be strengthened and has become increasingly efficient. The industry promotion legal framework has been improved, while project construction, assessment, implementation and finance finalization experienced positive changes.

With practical targets, the national industry promotion program has helped rural industrial establishments prepare appropriate investment plans, improve management capabilities, expand production and business and increase competitiveness. Industry promotion projects have been implemented in accordance with plans and development strategies of specific localities, contributing to economic and labor force restructuring towards industrialization and modernization.

Last year, the national industry promotion program financed many large projects in different localities. The Agency for Industrial Promotion worked with localities to hold a ceremony awarding People’s Artisan and Merited Artisan titles to outstanding artisans in the field of fine arts and handicrafts, while accomplishing the selection of outstanding regional industrial products, with 200 product and product sets certified, in 2016.

In the same year, Industrial Promotion Center 1 of the Agency for Industrial Promotion implemented eight groups of projects at a total cost of more than VND16.8 billion, with projects for building technical demonstration models and applying advanced equipment and technology to production accounting for the vast majority of the total.

Specifically, apart from three technical demonstration model construction projects, the center implemented 19 equipment and machinery projects for 38 establishments in 12 provinces of Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Ha Nam, Nghe An and others. Project beneficiaries said although industry promotion capital is smaller than their investment demands, it contributed to encouraging them to develop production.

To maintain the national industry promotion program’s important role in rural industrial development, the Agency for Industrial Promotion will soon implement the decision on national industry promotion projects in 2017 that have been approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance, prepare plans for project supervision and provide guidelines for localities to prepare plans, including cost estimates, for 2018.

Besides, the agency will soon prepare plans to coordinate with localities to implement annual tasks, including the holding of industry promotion conferences of northern, central and southern regions, selection of outstanding rural industrial products at the national level, and organization of the 2017 or first outstanding national rural industrial product fair.
