Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has issued instructions on the projects at the An Khanh–Bac Giang Thermal Power Plant in the northern province of Bac Giang and Duc Giang–Lao Cai Thermal Power Plant in the northern province of Lao Cai.
Hai Phong 1 and Hai Phong 2 Thermal Power Plants
He agreed to adjust the capacity of the first plant (previously known as the Luc Nam Thermal Power Plant), from 100 megawatts to 650 megawatts.
The Government leader also agreed to add the 100-megawatt two-turbine Duc Giang–Lao Cai Thermal Power Plant to the national power development plan for the 2011-2020 period with a vision to 2030.
Instead of providing power to the national grid, the plant will only generate electricity for chemicals factories belonging to Duc Giang–Lao Cai Chemicals JSC.
The PM assigned the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in collaboration with Bac Giang and Lao Cai’s provincial People’s Committees, to request that investors clarify relevant issues in the process of outlining and approving the projects as stipulated.
The ministry was also tasked with guiding investors in taking the necessary steps to prepare for the construction of the two plants in accordance with the current regulations on investment in construction, quality management and environmental protection./.
