The PM said that despite many difficulties, the province has seen encouraging development with the economic growth rate currently 11 times higher than in 1997 and the income per capita up by 10 times.
The government head suggested that Bac Kan should fully acknowledge its limitations including the small economic scale, asynchronous socio-economic infrastructure, untapped potentials and strengths, small number of enterprises operating in the province, only one industrial zone, and a high poverty rate.
The province was asked to pay attention to developing its wood processing industry and tourism, particularly in the Ba Be Lake area. The province also needs to restructure its agricultural and forestry industry, build a strong political system, and prepare well for the upcoming Party Congress at all levels.
PM Phuc also urged central ministries and agencies to receive proposals from the province to allocate more resources for the development of the province, particularly in the area of transport.
Earlier, the PM visited local households in Bach Thong district and presented two social houses, worth VND50 million (US$2,200) each, to a needy family and the family of a war veteran in the locality.
