(VEN) - Through Government Office Official Letter 2321/VPVP-KGVX dated April 7, 2015 referring to national target programs and the target programs for the 2016-2020 period, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh requested the Ministry of Planning and Investment to preside over and coordinate with other ministries concerned to check and renew the list of target programs and consider power supply for rural, mountainous areas and islands as a national target program.
Under Prime Ministerial Decision 2081/QD-TTg dated November 8, 2013 approving the program for power supply for rural, mountainous areas and islands in the 2013-2020 period, all communes nationwide will have access to electricity in 2015 and most rural households will have access to electricity by 2020. Power supplies for these areas will come from the national grid and new, renewable energy resources.
Total investment in the program is nearly VND23.93 trillion. Of this, VND338 billion will be invested in power supply for communes, nearly VND22.06 trillion in power supply from the national grid for hamlets and villages, and over VND1.48 trillion in power supply from other sources.
