Power firm donates VND500 million for Quang Ninh COVID-19 relief

(VEN) - The AES Mong Duong Power Company donated VND 500 million to the Quang Ninh Red Cross Society on April 24, supporting the province's COVID-19 fight.

The donation will be used to improve the preparedness of local communities and related agencies in fighting COVID-19 in Quang Ninh Province. A total of 50% of the donation will be used to directly support preventive measures in the fight against COVID-19 in Mong Duong ward, Cong Hoa and Cam Hai Commune in Cam Pha City.

“On behalf of the Quang Ninh Red Cross Society, I appreciate the support of the company and would like to thank them. This is certainly a very practical and timely resource to support the local organizations in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Mr. Vu Hong Hai, President of Quang Ninh Red Cross Society.

Mr. Kevin Pierce, Manager of Mong Duong II power plant said, “During the COVID-19 pandemic, the safety of our people, our partners and especially the communities we serve is of utmost importance. That’s why we are making major efforts to secure the health of our employees, the safety of the communities and ensure the continuity of our operations. I hope the contribution from the company will provide extra resources to support those who are on the front line in the fight against COVID-19.”

The donation is part of AES Mong Duong’s CSR program. Since 2012, 130 CSR initiatives with a total value of more than US$600,000 have been implemented, focusing on four main pillars – Health, Education, Livelihoods and Infrastructure. The activities have made a lasting difference and contributed to improving the quality of life of more than 200,000 people in neighboring communities in Cam Pha city, Quang Ninh Province.
