Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc praised the efforts to bolster socio-economic development of Thua Thien-Hue during a working meeting with the central province’s key leaders on June 10.

But he noted that Thua Thien-Hue’s economic size remains small, without large enterprises to act as economic drivers, and urged the province to improve administrative procedures in order to attract investment.
The government leader commended the province’s efforts to relocate residents out of the Hue Imperial City and calls for reduced use of single-use plastic bags.
PM Phuc stated that in the future, the provincial capital city of Hue needs to become a centre of the region, building on its status as a former imperial capital.
He underlined that Hue must be a center of culture and peace.
The Prime Minister suggested that the province needs to use land appropriately in order to build a green and peaceful city, utilising the Perfume River and the Ngu Binh Mountain as its notable attractions.
He also asked Thua Thien-Hue to continue its campaign to restrict plastic use so that Hue may become a plastic bag-free city.
