To Ngoc Son, deputy director of the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Asia-Africa Market Department, said that in recent years, Vietnam has become a focus of many world-leading solar power firms and is likely to continue attracting additional investors. Vietnam currently has 99 solar power projects across the country with total capacity of 5,053MW, accounting for about nine percent of total power production.

Son said the government has adopted policies to support the growth of the solar energy sector in order to turn solar power into a spearhead industrial sector, advising businesses to make full use of this opportunity. He stressed the need for businesses to prioritize green and sustainable development orientations.

According to Son, the Vietnam Solar E-Expo 2020 is an important event that creates good opportunities for domestic and international investors, manufacturers and businesses to introduce advanced projects, products and technologies. It is also a favorable opportunity for parties to seek partners, exchange experiences, expand the scope of cooperation, access and apply cutting-edge technologies to contribute to the optimal development of renewable energy sources in Vietnam, meeting the country’s energy needs. The organization of online events due to the Covid-19 pandemic helps sustain trade and investment promotion activities, as well as technology transfer.
