Party chief works with Dien Bien province

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong visited the north-western province of Dien Bien and worked with its leaders on July 16, discussing the socio-economic situation and implementation of the Resolution of the 12th National Party Congress in the locality.

At the meeting, the Party General Secretary noted that the province should continue to focus on socio-economic development, accelerate economic structure transformation, creating a breakthrough towards boosting agricultural, forestry, service and tourism development.

Dien Bien should pay much attention to building infrastructure, attracting investment and administrative reform as well as improving people’s skills and knowledge, training human resources, enhancing education and vocational training and attract more talents, added Party chief Nguyen Phu Trong.

He also asked the provincial authorities to focus on ensuring defence and security, maintaining social safety and order, and promoting external activities as well as caring for ethnic and religious work.

The Party leader urged the provincial leaders to care for building pure and strong Party and political system as well as accelerate implementation of the Politburo’s Directive No.5 on promoting the ‘Studying and Following President Ho Chi Minh’s Moral Example’.

He also expressed his hope that the Party, government and people in the provice would continue to uphold the heroic tradition as well as made more efforts to develop the locality.

On the same day, Party General Secretary Trong laid a wreath at the Dien Bien martyrs’ cemetery as well as visited Tay Trang border guard station in Na U commune, Dien Bien district.

On the occasion, the Party chief presented gifts to several policy beneficiary families in Pom Lot commune, Dien Bien district and planted a memorial tree at Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum./.
