During the session, the members of the Party Central Committee are expected to discuss the socio-economic and financial-budgetary situation in 2017, in addition to drafting a socio-economic development plan and financial-budgetary estimates for next year.

They are also set to investigate the healthcare and population problems, the reform of public service institutions and the organisation of a lean and effective political system, alongside other important matters.

In his speech, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said that the meeting’s agenda covers several fundamental issues relevant to socio-economic development, the reform of politics and economic growth in line with the Resolution of the 12th National Party Congress issued last year.

He asked the members of the Party Central Committee to demonstrate a sense of responsibility in finalising the reports, resolutions and conclusions of the committee and during the decision making process on major issues.
