The Business Association of High Quality Vietnamese Products on February 22 announced a list of more than 590 enterprises eligible for the title 'High Quality Vietnamese Goods' in 2017.
These enterprises were selected from 805 enterprises nominated by consumers during a four-month survey conducted by the Business Association of High Quality Vietnamese Products.
This is the 21st year the association has carried out the survey on a national scale which also provides necessary information on business activities for enterprises and management agencies.
The survey showed that 92% of consumers use domestically produced goods but only 78% of consumers favour Vietnamese goods, meaning that domestic producers have yet to meet the expectations of consumers, said the survey advisor Hoang Trong.
The consumers are also worried about food hygiene and safety and one fourth of respondents are worried about the use of banned substances in production and preservation of products.
Another issue of concern is that consumers are still purchasing unsafe products because there are no alternative products on the market including fresh farm produce and canned food.
In addition, the percentage of consumers buying through modern channels such as supermarkets, commercial centres and convenience stores has risen to 34%, reflecting the changes in living conditions and the concerns about the quality of goods and food hygiene sold at markets.
