As the largest exhibition of Vietnam’s agricultural products, seafood and food industry, it is being held by the Ministry of Industry and Trade under the framework of the National Trade Promotion Program.
In addition to agricultural products, seafood, beverages, tea and coffee, spices and processed foods, the event also features food processing technologies.
The highlight at the 2016 Vietnam Foodexpo is pavilions on “Investment in the Development of the Food Industry,” which are introducing reliable destinations in Vietnam for investment in the food industry.
In her opening speech, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Ho Thi Kim Thoa said that in recent years, Vietnam’s food industry has made rapid development, accounting for a significant proportion of its GDP.
In 2015, exports of agricultural and food products reached about US$20 billion, accounting for 12% of the country’s total export turnover, of which many items were among the best in the world.
She also stated that with the increasingly dynamic economy and changes in consumer habits and the ASEAN Economic Community’s establishment and signing of a series of new-generation free trade agreements, Vietnam’s food industry would have great opportunities to develop.
The expo is expected to actively promote the strengths of Vietnamese enterprises and to create favourable conditions for accessing, expanding and developing markets both at home and abroad through connections with wholesale and retail distribution networks and import partners and investors.
In parallel with the event, an international exhibition on food technologies (Vietnam Foodtech 2016) is also being held at the same place. It is introducing the latest technologies and modern machineries for the production and deep processing of high-quality food products with high added value and at competitive prices.
The two events will run through November 19./.
