More than 150 outstanding enterprises and entrepreneurs operating in Hanoi were honored at an exchange programme entitled "Enterprise Night 2016" at the Hanoi Opera House on December 28.
The programme, themed ‘For Community – For Enterprises – Connection for Prosperity’, was held by the Hanoi Association of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises and attended by Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister, Vuong Dinh Hue.
In addition to commending enterprises for their outstanding achievements as well as great contributions to the capital’s economy, the event offered an opportunity for entrepreneurs to meet and exchange their experience.
At the event, Deputy PM Hue presented Labor Orders, third class, to Phu My Group and the Capital Lottery Limited Company as well as the PM’s Certificates of Merit to Hanoi Water Supply No. 2 Joint Stock Company and Hanoi Lighting and Urban Equipment Limited Company.
On the occasion, numerous other enterprises and individuals were presented with Certificates of Merit from the Hanoi People's Committee and the Hanoi Association of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in recognition of their achievements and contributions to the national development.
At the programme, enterprises donated a total of VND1.75 billion (around US$76,842) to the ‘Fund for the Poor’ launched by the Hanoi municipal Fatherland Front Committee.
In 2016, the number of newly established enterprises in Hanoi reached 23,000 with a total capital of VND203.760 billion (nearly US$9 million), a year-on-year increase of 42%. Out of over 200,000 enterprises operating in the capital, 97% were small and medium-sized, contributing over 40% to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the city.
