Online shopping festival opens in Hanoi

The biggest online shopping event of the year, Online Friday 2016, was officially launched in Hanoi on December 1 with a wide variety of activities held in response.

At Ly Thai To Square, representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Information and Communication, the Hanoi municipal People’s Committee, the Vietnam E-Commerce and Information Technology Agency (VECITA) and some other related enterprises, pressed the starting button to officially launch Online Friday.

On the occasion, the website, selling products at hugely discounted prices, was officially activated. In addition, the online shopping website will go live within 24 hours from 12am on December 2.

At the pedestrian streets around Ly Thai To Square, from 6pm on December 1 to December 3, 25 pavilions featuring numerous promotional programmes and activities providing opportunities for visitors to experience unique technologies. The events are expected to attract around 40,000 customers.

Online Friday aims to contribute to promoting shopping activities of the community through online channels, creating favourable conditions for customers to purchase high-quality products at discounted prices.

The revenue from this year’s event is expected to reach VND1 trillion, two times higher than the last year and six times higher than 2014.
