Travellers will be exempted from import, excise and value added tax when bringing 1.5 litres of wine with 22% alcohol content or more, 2 litres of wine below 22% alcohol content and 3 litres of alcoholic beverages and beer.

The regulations are pursuant of the recently issued government decision on duty-free luggage, movable assets, gifts and samples brought by travellers into Vietnam.
Travellers can also bring into Vietnam 200 cigarettes, 100 cigars and 500g of tobacco products without having to pay customs duties.
The minimum age for bringing alcoholic beverages and tobacco into Vietnam is 18 years.
The total value of other goods (not listed above) of a traveller must not exceed VND10 million (US$460).
Vietnamese citizens living abroad who have registered for permanent residence in Vietnam can bring their used automobiles and motorcycles into Vietnam as prescribed by law. They are exempted from import duty for one automobile and one motorcycle but are required to pay excise tax and value added tax./.
