(VEN) - The Garlica Co., Ltd. specializes in products extracted from black garlic and has successfully researched and developed a diverse food and health supplement line since its launch less than two years ago.
Determined to provide preservative-free agricultural products using available domestic raw materials, the Garlica Co., Ltd has produced black garlic wine, black garlic syrup, black garlic juice, black garlic pancakes and black garlic noodles.
Black garlic is made by heating whole bulbs of garlic over the course of several weeks, a process that results in black cloves. The taste is sweet and syrupy.
The active ingredients in black garlic are believed to strengthen the immune system, reduce cholesterol and prevent cancer and cardiovascular disease. In addition to quality, the company also pays great attention to product designs, with delicate packaging designs creating a luxurious appearance.
The company currently uses more than one tonne of raw garlic a month to manufacture products for nationwide consumption as health supplements and as gifts. Its products are all manufactured on a modern production line meeting the ISSO 22000 standard. The company also plans to export products to some countries, such as the Republic of Korea, Japan and the US, but needs to expand production scale to four tonnes of garlic a month, four times higher than the current capacity, to meet both domestic and export demand.
The company has contacted garlic growers and is also actively looking for partners to ensure stable raw material for production.
Garlica’s products have achieved a market foothold through e-trading floors. Board Chair Nguyen Van Hoan explains that Garlica was established in mid-2019 but was soon plunged into the global Covid-19 crisis, which undermined traditional trade promotion models due to the social distancing measures. In order to introduce and promote products to consumers, enterprises had to seek online trade promotion channels after studying and evaluating the effectiveness of this form. The Industry and Trade Review also helped connect the company’s products to e-commerce floors such as Alibaba, Lazada, Shopee and Tiki, on which their products have gained recognition.
After realizing the positive effects of e-commerce, Garlica recently debuted instant perch noodles for customers who love the attractive taste of traditional perch. With the authentic taste of real perch and texture of chewy noodles, and four-minute preparation time, the product has easily conquered the most demanding customers.
Despite the inevitable shift to e-commerce, more than 70 percent of small and medium enterprises in Vietnam have not ventured into e-commerce channels. A representative of the Vietnam E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade says this is one of the reasons that many products are unknown to customers despite their potential advantages.
