NA Chairwoman offers incense to Hung Kings

An incense-offering ceremony was held by the Phu Tho provincial authorities at the Hung Kings Temple Special National Historical Relic Site on Nghia Linh Mountain on the morning of April 14 (the 10th day of the third lunar month) to commemorate the Hung Kings, Vietnam’s legendary nation founders.

The event was attended by Politburo member and Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, the leaders of central ministries, departments, sectors and Phu Tho province, and visitors.

On behalf of the organising committee and people nationwide, Chairman of the Phu Tho provincial People’s Committee Bui Van Quang emphasised the huge significance of the Hung Kings commemoration day, while applauding the contributions of the Hung Kings and praising the predecessors’ resilient fighting spirit against the foreign invaders to defend the nation.

Highlighting the significant achievements attained by the country in the process of Doi Moi (Renewal) and international integration, he affirmed that, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, generations of Vietnamese people will unite together, overcome difficulties and seize opportunities to build an increasingly civilised, wealthy and beautiful Vietnam, contributing to peace and friendship in the region and around the world.

After the incense-offering ceremony, millions of Vietnamese people, both at home and abroad, as well as international friends, flocked to temples within the relic site to pay tribute to the Hung Kings and participate in festive activities and folk games.

* On the same morning, the Ho Chi Minh City authorities held a solemn commemoration ceremony dedicated to the Hung Kings at the Hung Kings memorial site in the history and ethnic culture park in District 9.

Nguyen Thien Nhan, Politburo member and Secretary of the municipal Party Committee, together with revolutionary veterans, leaders and former leaders of the city, intellectuals, religious dignitaries and people, participated in the procession rituals, as well as incense and flower offering ceremonies, in tribute of the Hung Kings.
