(VEN) - Thanh Ha District in the Red River Delta province of Hai Duong is not only renowned for its high quality litchis but also has potential to develop cultural and historical tours.
A 20-minute car ride away from the center of Hai Duong City lies Thanh Ha District. We went to a litchi garden certified as a Vietnamese Good Agricultural Practices (VietGap) business in the district’s Thanh Thuy Commune. The place was full of tourists, snapping photos of the abundant red bundles of fruit hanging from hundreds of trees, as farmers picked fruit for the guests.
Thanh Ha is not only renowned for its high quality litchis but is also a land of cultural and historical sites, including ancient pagodas with unique architecture, such as Minh Khanh, Dong Ngo and Bach Hao.
Khong Quoc Tuan, director of the Hai Duong Tourism Promotion Center, says Thanh Ha is designated as a tourist destination in the province’s tourism development plan, and will be promoted regularly to attract visitors. Many tour operators have organized tours to Thanh Ha.
In 2016, Hai Duong Province approved a master construction plan for the Song Huong-Thanh Ha ecological tourist site to exploit the local potential for preserving ecological resources and historical and cultural values in the province. The plan will form a basis for formulation of other plans to attract investment and develop tourism.
The plan aims to develop and diversify the province’s tourist offerings, including ecological tours along the Huong River, historical and cultural tours, and other exploration tours.
The plan will serve about 500,000 visitors a year by 2020 and one million annual visitors by 2030.
The province on the northeastern outskirts of Hanoi has lots to offer those seeking a day trip from the capital or a weekend getaway.
Khong Quoc Tuan, director of the Hai Duong Tourism Promotion Center, says Hai Duong Province should formulate and implement investment promotion policies to speed up construction of the Song Huong-Thanh Ha eco-tourist site.
