Let’s profit from heritage sites

Last year, Lao Cai welcomed more than two million tourists including more than 700,000 foreign visitors and recorded nearly VND5,000 trillion in revenue. Strong tourism development contributed significantly to pushing up sales of goods and services while improving local socioeconomic structure.

The province successfully developed a variety of original tourism products based on local cultural, historical and natural characteristics. Some of the most prominent products are tours to Sa Pa and Bac Ha, ecotours and adventure tours to Fansipan, tours to hamlets, grottoes and waterfalls, and religious tours.

Community tourism has been developed in Muong Khuong, Si Ma Cai, Bac Ha and Bat Xat districts, coupled with local socio-cultural characteristics. More than 1,000 households have adopted homestay models with monthly incomes ranging from VND1-1.5 million.

Lao Cai has successfully boosted tourism development under the motto Let’s Profit from Heritage Sites combined with local traditional values and specialties, with tours to Ta Van Village, night markets in Sa Pa and Bac Ha, horse race in Bac Ha, Sa Pa brocade, Seng Cu rice and San Lung alcohol.

2017 National Tourism Year eagerly anticipated

With endless tourism development efforts and increasingly original and perse tours, Lao Cai is confident to host the 2017 National Tourism Year, realizing the aim of welcoming 2.4 million tourists to the province in the coming year, said Ha Van Thang, Director of the Lao Cai Culture, Sports and Tourism Department.
Lao Cai has constructed the Fansipan cable system and Bac Ha flower valley ecotourism destination and organize international sport event like marathons and mountain biking. The province targets to have Sa Pa and Lao Cai City recognized as national tourism destinations, along with building several provincial tourism brand names.

Director of the Lao Cai Culture, Sports and Tourism Department Ha Van Thang said, “Lao Cai will adopt tourism development measures in a resolute manner to improve tourism product quality, support the development of community tourism models, call for investment in local tourism infrastructure development and struggle to lure tourists by offering them more perse and original tours.”
