(VEN) - The Hanoi Department of Tourism launched a Vietnamese Ao dai Space at the Lanhuong Fashion House at 18 Au Co Road in Tay Ho District, Hanoi. As the first fashion place in Hanoi to be recognized as a destination for tourists to the city, Lanhuong Fashion House has become a peerless destination for those who love Ao Dai (the Vietnamese traditional long dress).
According to Lanhuong Fashion House owner - fashion designer Lan Huong, products showcased at the Vietnamese Ao Dai Space are made using wholly domestic materials and in a complete production process including designing, tailoring, embroidering and finishing.
Vietnamese Ao Dai Space has become a meeting venue for artisans and fashion designers with a big love for Ao Dai. Designer Lan Huong said she wished that her dream will come true - turning her own efforts over the past 20 years and her great love for Ao Dai into a Vietnamese Ao Dai Space.
Visitors to the Vietnamese Ao Dai Space can have the opportunity to admire silkworm farming tools and accessories of Ao Dai, such as conical hat (including flat palm-leaf hat with fringes from Trieu Khuc), Dau Bac jewelry from Dinh Cong (Hanoi) and Dong Xam (Thai Binh Province), and embroidered and wooden shoes, among others.
Coming to the Lanhuong Fashion House, guests can also see firsthand artisans performing traditional arts and playing musical instruments and introducing tea preparation methods of Hanoians. They can also exchange with craft village artisans and fashion designers, and participate in Ao Dai training courses and shows.
According to Hanoi Department of Tourism Director Do Dinh Hong, Lanhuong Fashion House tells a vivid, interesting story about Ao Dai. Featuring and pursuing traditional cultures, and using wholly domestic materials for a complete production process, Lanhuong Fashion House has become sophisticated and deluxe in style and has been doing a very good job in promoting the beauty of Vietnamese women.
Before the 2016 Hanoi Ao Dai Festival took place, the department surveyed a number of fashion designers in the city to find destinations for Ao Dai tours. Lanhuong Fashion House satisfied all of standards to welcome and serve visitors. Hong said that Lanhuong Fashion House is not only qualified in terms of material facilities, but it has designer Lan Huong - a Hanoian who was the first to be conferred on the title Vietnamese Ao Dai Artisan and has a great love for Hanoi and Hanoi cultures in particular. Devoting all of her attention and money to the Lanhuong Fashion House, designer Lan Huong said that she would like to contribute to the conservation and promotion of the nation’s traditional cultures and introduce cultures of Hanoi in particular and Vietnam in general to domestic and foreign visitors through Ao Dai.
The Hanoi Department of Tourism expects that Lanhuong Fashion House - a convergence of creativity - will not only create a space for new fashion design ideas but also become an interesting experience for domestic and foreign visitors.
