Japan has proposed donating Hanoi 200 cherry blossom (sakura) plants on the occasion of the Cherry Blossom Festival, which is expected to be organized in the capital in March, according to the local news site VnExpress.
Japanese experts would come to Hanoi to take care of the trees to ensure that they would bloom over one year after they are planted, the city’s chairman Nguyen Duc Chung said at a meeting of the Hanoi Party Committee on Monday.
According to Japanese experts, cherry blossom trees from northeastern Japan are suitable with Hanoi’s weather and soil conditions.
Hanoi’s Party Secretary Hoang Trung Hai asked relevant agencies to find appropriate sites for growing those trees.
The Hanoi Cherry Blossom Festival will enter its 10th year this year. The event is aimed at introducing Japanese culture to those who love this country./.
