Under the theme 'Renewing and enhancing the competitiveness of the ASEAN steel industry', the exhibition includes 62 pavilions and two showrooms.

The event attracts the participation of many of the world's largest steel manufacturers and suppliers such as ABB AB Metallurgy, Danieli, Primetals Technologies, and Technova, and Vietnam's leading steel manufacturers including Vietnam Steel Corporation, Hoa Sen Group, Hoa Phat Group, Vina Kyoei Steel, and Posco Vietnam.

According to Chairman of the Vietnam Steel Association Ho Nghia Dung, besides the general development of the ASEAN steel industry, Vietnam's steel industry is facing difficulties including competition with cheap-priced steel imported from several countries. He noted that the conference on how to renew and enhance the competitiveness of the ASEAN steel industry is a suitable and helpful topic at this time.

Dung said that the Vietnamese steel industry has seen the most rapid development among ASEAN nations in recent years but there remain small-scaled enterprises with low competitiveness who cause negative impacts on the environment.

Steel enterprises must continue to renew their technology and business governance in addition to boosting regional and international integration to make new strides and promote their competitiveness amid the steel redundancy in the world market.

General Director of Vietnam Steel Corporation Nghiem Xuan Da said that the conference is a good opportunity for ASEAN steel producers to exchange information and seek solutions to improve their competitiveness and productivity.

The event will run until June 1./.
