(VEN) - The development of the Vietnamese electronics industry offers great prospects to turn Vietnam into the world’s new electronics manufacturing hub. This was the thrust of NEPCON Vietnam 2019, the country’s only exhibition of SMT (surface-mount technology), testing technologies, equipment and support industries for electronics manufacturing that took place in Hanoi in mid-September. It displayed more than 200 brands in seven international pavilions from the US, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Chinese Taipei, China, Singapore, and Vietnam.

Time to shine – Solar power gaining momentum in Vietnam

Solar power saw the sunshine in Vietnam with the promulgation of Decision 11/2017/QD-TTg dated 11 April 2017 (“Decision 11”) of the Prime Minister (PM) on Mechanism for Encouragement of Development of Solar Power in Vietnam, amended by Decision 02/2019/QD-TTg dated 8 January 2019. Decision 11 took effect from 1 June 2017 and completed its term on 30 June 2019. Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for solar power projects entered into before 1 June 2017 were required to be amended so as to be in compliance with Decision 11.
Vietnam headway to climate change with wind power

Wind power policies have been in Vietnam since 2011 and last year Decision No. 39/2018/QD-TTg dated 10 September 2018 (“Decision 39”) issued by the Prime Minister of Vietnam (the “PM”) with effect from 1 November 2018 has amended and supplemented Decision No. 37/2011/QD-TTg dated 29 June 2011 of the PM on mechanism supporting the development of wind power projects in Vietnam.
