(VEN) - Honda Vietnam recently organized a Tree Planting Day event for the third year in Bac Kan Province to kick off a forest planting project launched by the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development with technical consultancy from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Vietnam and technical guidance from the Vietnam Forestry University. The project began in 2013 and will finish in 2020 with VND4.9 billion funded by Honda Vietnam. Over the last nearly two years, 359,98ha of forests have been planted and cared for. It is expected that after eight years the project will provide 73,500cu.m of wood, bringing VND50 billion in revenue.
In the framework of the project, Honda Vietnam has organized the Tree Planting Day annually with the participation of company staff members. This year, 200 staff members of Honda Vietnam and its partners have planted trees on two hectares of land, and the company expects the planted area will reach 65.64ha by the year’s end.
