Ho Chi Minh City’s consumption price index (CPI) in September fell by 0.47% from August and 0.99% against the same period last year, the municipal Statistics Office announced.

Out of the 11 main goods and service categories, six reported price fall with the sharpest decrease seen in the transport sector (3.48%), attributed to a drop in petrol prices during the month.
In addition, the others included housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials (0.83%); restaurant and catering services (0.25%); post and telecommunications (0.25%); culture and entertainment (0.07%); and garments, footwear and hats (0.01%).
In the ninth month, prices of four commodities and services namely education, beverages and tobacco, and home appliances rose by 0.34%, 0.25%, 0.09%, and 0.02% month-on-month, respectively.
The medicine and health service category witnessed stable prices.
Gold and US dollar prices in September saw month-on-month surges of 3.68% and 3.12%, respectively./.
