The statement was made by Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan at a meeting with the press on April 2.

Speaking at the meeting, Secretary Nhan emphasised that the city authorities have always listened to people’s feedback through the press and media to overcome limitations and shortcomings in the process of leadership, direction and administration of socio-economic development.

The press has made important contributions to the general development of the city, he said, adding that the city will be establishing a Press Centre, scheduled to be put into operation at the end of April.

The centre is expected to create favourable conditions for press agencies to timely approach and grasp the guidelines and policies of the city, he noted.

People’s opinions reflected by the press are considered a basis for the city to measure people’s satisfaction on the leadership and administration of the city government, he added.
