The Sai Gon Water Corporation (SAWACO) increased the number of households in Ho Chi Minh City with access to clean water to 1.6 million by the end of last year, equivalent to 87.9 percent.

The figure was up by over 5 percent in comparison with 2014, reported Quan Doi Nhan Dan newspaper.
Last year, SAWACO produced about 586 million cubic metres of water, nearly 3 percent more than in 2014, supplying an average of 1.6 million cubic metres per day.
The company plans to cut water losses to 29 percent and increase its supply to 2.4 million cubic metres per day.
