Under Ha Noi’s transport planning by 2030 with a vision towards 2050, bus still plays an important role in local public transportation.

There will have eight bus rapid transit (BRT) routes and three other excessive routes of metro or monorail.
The eight bus rapid transit routes include (1) Kim Ma – Le Van Luong – Yen Nghia with a total length of 14 km; (2) Ngoc Hoi – Phu Yen with 27 km; (3) Son Dong – Ba Vi with around 20 km; (4) Phu Dong – Bat Trang – Hung Yen with about 15 km; (5) Gia Lam Me Linh with around 30 km; (6) Me Linh – Son Dong – Yen Nghia – Ngoc Hoi – National Road 5 – Lac Dao with 53 km; (7) Ba La – Ung Hoa with 29 km; and (8) Ung Hoa – Phu Xuyen with 17 km.
Under the newly-approved planning, existing coach stations namely My Dinh, Nuoc Ngam, Giap Bat, Gia Lam, and Thuong Tin will be updated.
Earlier, Viet Nam set a goal to build BRT routes in Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang from 2015 to 2018 to improve the capacity of public transport in big cities.
In Ha Noi, the pilot project has a total length of 14.7km, stretching from Yen Nghia bus station to Kim Ma bus station.
The BRT system has specialized designs, services and infrastructure to improve system quality, and help cut down energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions./.
