Cleaner production

The government and the capital city consistently try to promote cleaner production. Starting this year, the Hanoi Industry Promotion and Development Consultancy Center has been disseminating information through mass media on the application of cleaner production in industry, and has also held five training courses introducing cleaner production and its benefits for enterprises.

The center has also surveyed and assessed clean production at key industrial facilities in the city, packaging printing suppliers, and small and medium enterprises in the wood processing and ceramics industries.

In order to implement the program on sustainable production and consumption, the center has introduced models of ecological innovation, eco-design, sustainable design, supply chains, and typical models of sustainable production and consumption. It has also offered preferential mechanisms for enterprises producing environmentally friendly products, and has spread information about sustainable production and consumption chains to capital residents.

To develop a sustainable distribution system, the center has sought information about 90 enterprises and supporting industry production establishments that want to participate in the sustainable production and consumption chain.

The center has supported 13 enterprises with 16 products participating in the 2020 Hanoi key industrial product development program. It also provided training and consultancy for applying the 5S3D process in production for supporting industry enterprises in the mechanical and electrical industries.

Enhancing capacity

As for the handicraft industry, Hanoi strives to use its industry promotion program to help over 10,000 enterprises in the 2021-2025 period, creating job opportunities for about 50,000 rural workers, increasing export turnover of handicraft products by 5-8 percent per year on average, reach total turnover of over US$550 million by 2025, and creating about 2,000 samples of handicraft products with new designs for export.

To achieve this goal, the city will not only focus on supporting the application of scientific and technical advances to the production of craft villages, but also on supporting investment capital, labor training, site expansion, yielding the best operating conditions and contributing to the capital’s economic development and ensuring social security, according to Dao Hong Thai, director of the Hanoi Industry Promotion and Development Consultancy Center.

According to Vuong Dang Hoa, deputy director of the Hanoi Industry Promotion and Development Consultancy Center, from now until the end of 2020, the center will hold 12 training courses to improve corporate governance capacity, designs, and exporting experience for rural industrial establishments, as well as support 14 rural industrial establishments in renovating production machines and equipment, continue to raise awareness about economical and efficient use of energy in the community. In addition, the center will organize events to form a network of sustainable consumption production for bamboo, rattan and wood processing industries in Hanoi.

The implementation of industry promotion programs has helped enterprises and production establishments in craft villages reduce production costs and guarantee environmental targets in new rural construction.
