(VEN) - Hanoi will facilitate local tourism development to attract more visitors to the city in the coming time, said Do Dinh Hong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Hanoi accounted for about 30 percent of total foreign tourists to Vietnam

The department has officially announced a mobile phone number, 09041336677, and two addresses for tourist complaints and requirements, 3B Hoang Dieu Street in Ba Dinh District and the Tourism Information Kiosk at the Ly Thai To Public Garden, Le Thach Street, Hoan Kiem District.

According to Do Dinh Hong, Hanoi will in the coming time focus on tourism development in some of its special destinations including West Lake, Red River, a special tourism zone in Dong Anh District, Thang Long Royal Citadel, Temple of Literature, and Duong Lam, Van Phuc, Thuong Tin and Bat Trang  villages.

In order to promote tourism development this year, Hanoi will participate in the 15th annual meeting of the Council for Promoting Tourism in Asia (CPTA) and the Tourism Promotion Organization for Asia Pacific Cities (TPO) Standing Committee meeting, promote bilateral tourism cooperation with several regional cities including Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta, participate in international travel expos organized in key markets including France, the UK, the US, Germany, China, Japan and the Republic of Korea, organize annual tourism promotion events including Hanoi Memories, Hanoi Craft Village Tourism Festival, and a National Ao Dai (Vietnamese traditional long dress) Festival. Moreover, Hanoi will coordinate with foreign embassies across the city to promote domestic tourism in related countries, Do Dinh Hong said.

In reviewing Hanoi’s potential and advantage in tourism development, General Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Van Tuan said, “Hanoi has favorable conditions to develop tourism. However, Hanoi should have a longer term tourism development strategy and policy and focus on the development of culinary, cultural and spiritual tourism products.”

Hanoi aims to welcome 21.165 million tourists this year, a 6.95 percent increase over 2015, including 3.765 million international tourists, and expects to register about VND60.045 billion in revenue, an 8.11 percent increase.
