Hanoi seeks to strengthen economic partnership with British businesses

A seminar was held in Hanoi on October 12, under the theme ‘Hanoi meets British Business Group Vietnam (BBGV)’, with the aim of seeking stronger economic partnership between Vietnam’s capital city and British businesses.

The event, jointly held by the Hanoi Promotion Agency, Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the BBGV, attracted the participation of delegates from the British Embassy Hanoi, and businesses associations from Hanoi and Britain who are operating in a wide range fields, including finance, banking, insurance, construction, transport, logistics, marketing, education and training, and hospitality.

In his opening remark, Nguyen Doan Toan, Vice Chairman of Hanoi city People’s Committee briefed the participants on the current socio-economic status and the potential for conducting business in Hanoi.

He said that the event was held to attract more foreign investment to Hanoi, while promoting the city’s potential and investment opportunities to businesses in the UK and Europe in general.

Meanwhile, Steph Lysaght, deputy head of mission at the British Embassy in Hanoi introduced the advantages in cooperation of British businesses in Hanoi, as well as other cities and provinces in Vietnam.

At the event, representatives from the cities’ departments and sectors answered questions and exchanged information with the participating British businesses on issues of mutual concern, such as administrative procedures, granting business licenses for foreign firms, tariffs and customs, food safety, and human resource training.
