(VEN) - As part of the implementation of the 2016 Provincial Industry and Trade Links Promotion Program, Hanoi will fund 100-150 craft producers across 62 provinces and cities in the country to 50 percent of the rents of 300-350 pavilions at the 2016 Gift Show and organize five craft training courses for 175 rural workers in provinces in the north, center and Central Highlands.

Hanoi promotes interprovincial links

According to the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, Hanoi has nearly two million casual workers. The capital can only meet 40-50 percent of the demand for rice, chicken, eggs, vegetables and seafood and relies on southern suppliers for the remainder. Hanoi is home to thousands of producers who are providing local people reasonably priced quality products but have found it difficult to boost production and distribution due to weak interprovincial industry and trade links.

Recognizing that, Hanoi has planned activities to remove corporate difficulties while promoting interprovincial industry and trade links, which have attracted special attention from producers and traders from provinces and cities in the north, the middle, the Central Highlands and the south, especially Ho Chi Minh City.

Hanoi saw interprovincial industry and trade links promotion successes last year. In August and September 2015, the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade organized working trips to Can Tho and Da Nang provinces and Ho Chi Minh City to promote interprovincial industry and trade links. In November 2015, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade also organized a working trip to Hanoi to participate in an interprovincial industry and trade links workshop and visit some industrial bases and craft villages.

Interprovincial industry and trade links promotion programs have helped producers and traders across provinces and cities to exchange experiences, orientate production and sales activities and sign contracts. Hanoi producers and traders suggested that agricultural and seafood products from other localities in the country comply with quality, packaging and branding requirements to better sell in the capital.

In an effort to further boost local industry and trade development, Hanoi has carefully prepared and implemented the 2016 Provincial Industry and Trade Links Promotion Program to support producers and traders in provinces and cities to enhance production and sales of industrial, agricultural, forest and seafood products. Through participating in the program, producers and traders may sign memoranda of understanding and contracts, join fieldtrips, set up representative offices and branches, exchange experiences and promote cooperation.
