(VEN) - A street festival will take place on August 21 at the Thong Nhat Park in Hanoi, under the theme, "Hanoi on Sunday without Plastic Bags".
The program will draw more than 3,000 people including members of the Women's Association and school and university students who will take part in many events such as biking for the environment, a parade around the Thien Quang Lake and distributing environmentally friendly bags. Particularly, the participants will join a street festival.
Given that plastic bags are flooding the city, many suggested that Hanoi take better steps to significantly change people's habit of using plastic bags and to take tougher sanctions on plastic bag producers that violate production safety regulations.
This is the second year the Hanoi Environmental Fund launched the program to encourage people to better protect the environment and make Hanoi a pioneer in saying “no” to plastic bags.
