(VEN) - With greater efforts to diversify tourism products, Hanoi tends attract more tourists from the south.

Departments of culture, sports and tourism of 14 provinces and cities including Hanoi, Can Tho, Kien Giang, An Giang, Long An, Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Vinh Long, Tra Vinh, Hau Giang, Soc Trang, Dong Thap, Bac Lieu and Ca Mau signed a cooperation program for tourism development during the 2016-2020 period.

With the spirit of “Fourteen localities-One destination”, they will effectively coordinate to improve management of travel, accommodation and transport as well as training of human resources; and promote periodic exchange of information on issues related to tourism development.

Some 14 localities will also coordinate, promote and expand tourist market at home and abroad; enhance cooperation and links in the areas related to tourism such as connecting tours for tourists to 14 provinces and cities; increase the attractiveness and improve service quality to satisfy the needs of tourists.

They will jointly support businesses, organizations and individuals engaged in tourism activities as well as develop complete tourism products and professional services.

According to Hanoi Department of Tourism Director Do Dinh Hong, a cooperation program for tourism development during the 2016-2020 period between 14 provinces and cities aims at removing difficulties and problems in state management over tourism. Hanoi also signed a tourism development program during the 2016-2020 period with Phu Tho, Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Binh Phuoc, Binh Duong, Dong Nai and Tay Ninh.

Departments of culture, sports and tourism of eight provinces and cities will work together to find solutions to effectively manage tourism and travel, accommodation and transport as well as training of human resources, and connect tours for tourists.

In addition, eight provinces and cities will participate in tourism events, tourism promotion activities and fairs in the domestic and international market. Particularly, they will organize alternately one to two joint tourism programs, examine investment activities in tourism in neighboring areas, handle violations and enhance the role of agencies in environmental protection. With greater efforts for tourism promotion activities, the number of tourists coming to Hanoi has increased dramatically in recent times. In 2016, in addition to 17 million domestic visitors, Hanoi expects to welcome about four million international visitors, up 22.6 percent compared to 2015.
